Bayder Rock Church Membership

One of the 3 Primary Things distinctive to Bayder Rock Church is Church Discipline. And, ironic to me, is how fundamental Church Discipline is to Biblical teaching, but now unclear the Bible is to practically bringing it about in a fair way.

And to fairness, fundamentally, sits membership. I am SUPER critical of fleets of churches who do not practice church discipline, but BECAUSE THEY LACK A PROPER BASE (Matthew 7:24-25) of MEMBERSHIP, then implementing rules to discipline against becomes lost from the start.

This is a tragic irony, and one I intend to remedy. To build the on the Rock, to have the proper foundation, and then let's watch Bayder Rock Church grow and flourish in health. Hallelujah!

So, secondary though to manmade logistics and concepts of fairness is what the Bible says to membership. And this article here provide ample support for its necessity and good place in scripture (

How You May Become a BRC Member

For starters, you may become a member by reading and watching ALL of this material. It is a lot, huh? Well, I don't speak lightly related to the Roman Vision, I don't speak lightly to Lordship, and I don't speak lightly to building one's life on the Rock (Matthew 7:24-25). So, in order to 'look like a 300 Spartan Warrior', to be a disciple of Christ, to be comfortable with one's good standing before a jealous God ... well, then, naturally, you're going to have to work hard.

I imagine, in time, the guidelines and process will improve from this point. But I super like this material and feel comfortable that, even though it will get polished over time, it is fundamentally good as is.

So, for now, I imagine you and I having a conversation where you can demonstrate a comfortable and workable understanding of this material, an agreement to philosophy and theology, and we'll then trust God together and mark you as a member of Bayder Rock Church. How's that?

As this is informal, and each person is a unique soul, please reach out to me at the comfortable point toward the beginning of your membership desire, so that I can guide you from the outset.

a. BRC theology matches that outlined by the website Now, I already know I view things different than related to remarriage and a few other things. In time, I will formalize those differences, but for now, practically, this website provides a needed base of theology.

b. Call this a pet peeve if you like, or call it fundamentally important. That is, perhaps it's minor, but likely it's not. And here it is: as a Bayder Rock Church member you are not allowed to offer prayer requests for others. Why do I say this? Because Bayder Rock Church wants TrueFaced disciples. BRC wants authenticity. BRC wants a culture that leans into James 5:16. Prayer is of course a key part of church, but over my life, FAR too many times I hear people offer prayer requests like this: "Please pray for my neighbor's, cousin's, aunt's dog who is at the vet." Look ... this is not helpful to discipleship and Lordship and all the things BRC aims to do.

c. Now, admittedly, even to my 8 Dimensions of Wellness, which effectively serves as a tangible way to monitor holiness, #2 above, and also these 8 Dimensions 'come with an asterisk.' Meaning, that BRC needs to CLEARLY avoid legalism. And to make extra-biblical rules ... well ... that's cautious ground. So, with an asterisk to my teaching, things like #2 above prayers, and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness have a valid and good place. But ... biblical history, human history, shows that endevouring like BRC here now does means that we need to learn from past mistakes and this is one of my cautions, and related solutions, to the concern.

d. Hamartia - Key to Church Discipline under BRC is defining sin. We will use the idea of Hamartia (, although there are other words for sin throughout the Bible. For clarity, we need simplicity. And Hamartia's imagery is wonderful: to miss the mark. Meaning, a target with a bullseye has an infinte number of ways to err (i.e., to sin). And in any direction (as opposed to political 'left' and 'right' thinking). So, you may then fill out a "Matthew 18 Half Sheet of Green Paper" against me, pointing out a sin you see in me in even the most minute of ways. As THIS is APPLAUDED in BRC. I imagine times when, in the days of the church mailbox, that my mailbox as the pastor preacher would be overflowing with green sheets I and elders would need to care for weekly.

e. Do BRC doctrine, these pastors mark high on my list: John MacArthur, John Piper, RC Sproul, Charles Stanley, Johnny Hunt, Tommy Nelson

f. Google speculates that everyone makes 35,000 decisions a day. Filtering these many decisions through Matthew 7:24-25, the 'Rock' of Truth is important to BRC thinking, how easy and quickly bad thinking can get a person off track.

g. Once BRC reaches 500 members, I plan to start taking a paycheck.

h. At BRC, we will 'lean into conflict'. We will resolve conflict. We will improve. We will solve problems.

i. At BRC, we tell the truth. We are honest. It is okay to be honest in doubt, far better than to doubt silently. It's okay to ask questions and to disagree. We do not wear masks to present a false version of ourselves. All the while, though, we aim for 10 out of 10 in each category of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

Self-actualization, in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, is the highest level of psychological development where the "actualization" of full personal potential is achieved, which occurs only after basic and mental needs have been fulfilled.

Consider, then, in particular Psalm 139, with special focus on verse 13.

The idea here gives a look to spiritual giftedness, but I'm more interested in hearing what you feel God had in mind for you when He knit you in your mother's womb. To articulate it, and have others within BRC support you to these good and holy ends, that is super important and healthy.

Write a memo about your 'place in this world' as God intended you to be.

Hebrews 13:17 - Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

Timothy 5:17 - The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.

Peter 5:1-5 - To the Elders and the Flock - 5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Acts 20:29-30 - I know that after I leave, salvage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
