What BRC is All About
3 Primary Things: #1 Abased
Much of the language of the King James Version of the Bible is outdated, but to Philippians 4:12, a hallmark verse to Bayder Rock Church, the KJV language is point on. Abased and abounding. Abased means little, humble, lower, disgrace, and to culture, it is the antithesis of the 'Facebook world' we live in. Bayder Rock Church does not exist to make you happy; it exists to make you holy. And abased living is central to scripture and holiness. Everyone will enjoy 'coffee and donuts' and many churches literally market coffee and donuts to attract parishoners. To pastors who use this tact, I rebuke them with Matthew 18:6, saying ”“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Because to sweeten the Bible's call to full surrender is so deeply conflicting that this value, and so in a word - 'abased' - this stands as a primary distinction of Bayder Rock Church.
3 Primary Things: #2 Abounding
Paradox is a consistent theme of scripture, and so then too with Bayder Rock Church. Also in Philippians 4:12, the fitting - and now pleasurable - word 'abounding' sits as well. Abounding is good, but as Matthew 6:33 clarifies, "Seek first God's Kingdom and all these things will be added unto you." So the keys here include that God's will must be first ... so Abased is first in priority; that is, abased and abounding don't go hand in hand. You can't skip the hard part to get to the good. But, also too, within Bayder Rock Church, there is clear space for a 'prosperity Gospel'. In it's place, as CS Lewis acknowledges, "Aim at Heaven and you will get Earth 'thrown in'; aim at Earth and you will get neither."
3 Primary Things: #3 Church Discipline.
The path to 32 million members sits here, best I figure, how about to use a word I learned yesterday, I "prognosticate" (smile) ... in that these fighting words are also simply true: does your pastor and your church have a means to follow Matthew 18 and carry out church discipline? So, then, according to Hebrews 10:26-31, your pastor is going to hell. Because he knowingly and continually sins. And if you willfully attend such a church, and thereby support and participate in willful, habitual sin, you are either going to hell. Since no right-minded person wants to go to hell, then this is the reality you get to enjoy by shifting to the Holy Team called Bayder Rock Church. Sure, you'll get daily calls to Lordship and Full Surrender. Often times, if not always, those choices to submit to God involve pain, sometimes deep pain. But, weighed against hellfire and eternal damnation ... again ... rightminded people like you will pick the wiser, holy and better choice. The membership class will include expanded teaching to more fully round out the value of Church Discipline.Membership
BRC is a 'Cloud Based' Church
Here's what I know: "Rome" (i.e., a way to describe a worldwide impact, a Great Commission Reality) is the goal. In 40 years, am I the 'King of the World?' Am I the US President? Am I America's Next Pastor? Am I, literally, preaching Bayder Rock Messages from Rome, to fulfill the vision set now at the outset?
Here's what I know: Bayder Rock Church, as I see it, will be a brand. Churches will convert to a Bayder Rock Brand. They will adopt the philosophy and shared good goals that only together can we really (really) change the world as any good Christian ever so desires.
Here's what I know: I'm for social interaction. Meeting together. Perhaps that's in a building. Perhaps that in home church. Right now, I have ZERO followers, disciples, members ... so as I 'go with the flow' (John 3:8) ... I'm not against physical space, but out of the gate,
Here's what I know: Studying Jesus, his move from his hometown of Nazareth to Capernaum, the city that came to mind to best match the spirit of Capernaum was San Diego, CA. A prophet is not accepted in his hometown (Mark 6:4). I am confined to Chambersburg, PA, under Probation for at least 2 years, maybe 4. So, instead of 'going ahead and sinning' to minister into Chambersburg, PA, I'm prayerful to how God desires BRC to move. I'm patient for clarity, prayerful for San Diego, CA.
Here's what I know: I worked for Turbo Tax (I'm a CPA of 20+ years, now changing careers) and the world today simply has people who 'live online.' So I'm recognizing that, perhaps, an online church, with whatever physical particulars, innovations, etc., may be needed ... but with a trust in God for clarity, I'm 'leaning into' online church.
So, both to tact and theology, but also to platform, Bayder Rock, in a phrase, may best be described as 'Church Reimagined.'
Another related concept, that I like very much is this:
This is OUR generation, friends. We are the one's NOW who some day others will be writing the history books about. Let's OWN that OPPORTUNITY and make our time now a future LEGACY to be proud of.
